The Jersey Shore housemates are all about having fun and looking good in the process, but a disturbing incident that was set to air on Thursday’s episode has since been pulled by MTV.

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, a 21-year-old from Marlboro, N.Y., and one of eight self-described “Guidos” and “Guidettes” that make up the cast, is shown in a clip receiving a vicious blow to the face while drinking with her housemates at a bar.

The assailant, Brad Ferro, a 24-year-old high school gym teacher, was arrested and charged with “simple assault,” but the image of Snooki getting hit proved to be too much for the controversial reality show.

While MTV deals with the fallout, the housemates point to the incident as a turning point of their time together, saying that the attack on Snooki actually served to unite them.

“A positive came out of it,” an unfazed Snooki tells PEOPLE. “It definitely brought us closer together. It definitely brought us together as a family. We have each other’s backs and it was a positive.”

As far as silver linings go, this may be as good as it gets. “The first couple of episodes, [Sooki] didn’t fit in,” Mike ‘The Situation’ tells PEOPLE, “and when that happened, we thought, ‘That’s not cool. You should never touch a girl, in that way, no matter what!’ That brought the group together in a way that we cannot describe.”

According to Mike, the rules of Jersey Shore are as simple as they are steadfast: Look good, feel confident and treat women with the “utmost respect.”

And when Snooki went down, the rest of the house stepped up. “That was a very, very unfortunate situation,” Pauly D says. “It should never have happened, but the thing is, it brought the whole house together as a family. I felt like Snooki was my sister. I met her, we weren’t close, but something bad happened to her and it brought us closer together.”

MTV has since released a statement explaining their decision to pull the footage, saying, “What happened to Snooki was a crime, and obviously extremely disturbing.” But the real lesson here can best be summed up by Sooki herself, who says, “It made me more aware about going out. There are –holes out there, and it made me more aware about who I am surrounded by.”

Yankee Stadium, cheering on her boyfriend at the World Series. In the wake of Monday's announcement that Kate Hudson and Alex Rodriguez have ended their six-month relationship, a Rodriguez source tells Us that the actress' less-than-subtle presence at Yankee games was "a turnoff" to Rodriguez.

"[Hudson] wanted more camera time each and every game," the pal tells Usmagazine.com. "She would always want to be styled before games and she'd insist on front-row seats." Her motivation, the friend says, was more of a PR move than genuine devotion. "It was a turnoff to have a girlfriend who always wanted to be on camera," the source quips. "Alex wanted someone who was more interested in building a long-term relationship than just building their profile."

For those confused by the timeline of the couple's split and who initiated what, the A-Rod friend insists that "he broke up with her over a week ago," but they continued to spend time together publicly after the fact. "Alex wanted to end this relationship well over a month ago," the source says, but the baseball star, 34, didn't want to disrupt Hudson's premieres and promotional events for her new film Nine. "He felt that would be counterproductive and unfair to her."

And while many reports claim that a jealous Rodriguez "smothered" Hudson, 30, the friend suggests the opposite was the case, observing, "She seemed compelled to track and follow his every move" during his busy pre- and post-season schedule.

Ultimately, the pal says that Hudson tried to give Rodriguez "an ultimatum" and to "fast track" the relationship. "He's just coming off of a 13-year relationship with his ex-wife and a recent divorce," the friend points out. "He has two lovely children with his ex-wife, and that requires a certain amount of responsibility. She gave him ultimatums that a newly divorced father can't meet."

The friend says that things ended amicably -- and maturely. "They're two mature adults. She did take the relationship seriously, and he has a lot of respect for her. They had some really wonderful times together."

It was a family outing for Heidi Klum as she brought Johan, Leni and Henry out for an afternoon of holiday shopping at an LA mall on Sunday. Little Lou wasn't along for the trip, but she did fit in some quality time with Heidi, Leni and Santa last week. The Samuels are gearing up for their first Winter as a unit of six, but Heidi still manages to find space in her schedule to fit in her work. One thing she's isn't doing is joining her fellow Victoria's Secret Angels on their latest catalogue shoot, but Alessandra Ambrosio and the girls seem to be posing just fine without Heidi's expert guidance.

The housewives are hating on each other again.

Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice has slammed pregnant Bethenny Frankel's new nude PETA ad.

"To quote Bethenny: 'I just threw up a little in my mouth,'" Giudice, 36, Twittered Tuesday.

Frankel, 39, boasted in the New York Post that she was "already pregnant" when she shot the ad and she was "pleased" with how it turned out "because it doesn't look like there's been any airbrushing."

Giudice begs to differ.

"Help me understand this," she Twittered. "Bethenny is happy with her naked pic because she was 'already pregnant' at the time. She says she's now three months along, but she did the shot in August. Even if she's four months pregnant now, she would've been, like, one hour pregnant in the pic."

She added, "Someone tell Bethenny that sperm does not make you look fat, and I'm not buying the airbrushing thing in any case."

What's Giudice's beef with Bethenny?

In September, Bethenny told TV Guide that Giudice is her "least favorite housewife" because she is "whiny and unintelligent."

Giudice Twitted to fans that "it's cool if you like Bethenny. She probably didn't give an interview to TV Guide that hated on you. Me, not so lucky."

The Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel is the latest celebrity to take everything off and pose for PETA’s “Fur? I’d Rather Go Naked” ad campaign. Her billboard is located in New York City’s Times Square.

“I used to wear fur. I went to a cocktail party, walked outside on Fifth Avenue, and a PETA protester was holding up a skinned animal,” Frankel said in a statement. “I looked at it, and it made me sick. I felt disgusting. That day was a huge change, and since then I’ve really been against fur. I’m cleaning out my closets — trim, everything. I don’t see any reason for cruelty.”

Eva Mendes, Kristen Johnson, Mickey Rourke, Audrina Patridge, Khloe Kardashian and New Moon star Christian Serratos have all posed for PETA.

After spending a record five consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Songs chart with “Need You Now,” Lady Antebellum released the second single, "American Honey,” from their forthcoming sophomore album Need You Now (out Jan. 26) to radio yesterday.

“I think everyone, man or woman, it doesn’t matter, you get to a place in your life when you really miss the simplicity of growing up. I’m only 23 years old, but as things in our lives get crazier, there’s moments in time where I’m like, gosh, it would be great to just go back to when I was playing hide and go seek with my neighbors or laying on the screened-in porch in my aunt’s house — going back to the smells and the sights and all those things,” shares Hillary Scott. “That’s what I loved about this song...the nostalgic thing. It just has this sweetness to it, and it warms your heart.”

JAY SEAN CALLS FOR SHOW PROMOTERS TO BE MORE HONEST

British R&B star JAY SEAN has hit out at U.S. event promoters for "misleading" fans by advertising club appearances as live concerts - because he feels he's "letting down" his devotees whenever it occurs.

The singer shot to fame Stateside when his single Down became a summer smash and topped the Billboard chart in October (09).

Sean has been touring the U.S. ever since, with shows and appearances in cities like Los Angeles, Atlanta, Georgia, Chicago, Illinois, and New York - but he admits he's unhappy with the way some promoters have been falsely advertising events he's only meant to be hosting.

He tells WENN, "We've been doing so many shows and afterwards it's an afterparty or something like that and because of the wording in the flyers and posters, sometimes fans are led to the assumption that it's a full on concert with a band and dancers.

"Then when I turn up I only play my singles and then I feel awful 'cause I feel like I'm letting the fans down. I was in Pittsburgh on Sunday and it was billed as 'live in concert', but I didn't see the flyer until I got there.

"It's unfortunate 'cause I know fans will feel like I've let them down. Even knowing that, I tried to extend it (his set). I did acapellas, beatboxing... as much as I could without the full stage equipment."

Jim is known for writing strong female characters. Where do you think it comes from?

I don’t know if its something that he’s been consciously aware of, to be honest. What do know is that he’s been impacted by interesting women all his life, because you can tell he’s in tune with his feminine side. I’ve learned this about men who write good roles for women — there’s a very beautiful sentimentality to them. Their exteriors are sugarcoated with this manly presence, but deep on the inside, there’s also this [fragility].

During the shortness of my career, I’ve managed to work with [Steven] Spielberg, J.J. Abrams, and now Jim — all directors who are known for having strong female protagonists. They don’t feel diminished by it as men; they can tap into the complexities of how woman really are.

How bad is the landscape out there for decent female roles?

They’re out there — people just aren’t investing in them. We can sit here forever discussing it, because it has a chicken vs. the egg quality. Bottom line, producers are business people. Hollywood is a money-making machine. At the end of the day, they have to produce numbers that will help them keep their jobs and companies alive. But we as consumers have a lot more power than we think. Women need to demand better roles and get audiences to see their films. Because if a film doesn’t make $150 million, producers and studios aren’t going to bankroll a similar film next time. If there were more filmmakers that were female, trust me, it would be all about women.
